Might want to consider the 1st grade workbook
This workbook combines the fun puzzles from their magazines and the usual handwriting and basic math assignments used in their kindergarten class. It is not extremely challenging (im not a tiger mom) but comfortable and fun enough for a child to start getting used to doing "homework" especially if you are like me and just want them to have less screen time.My only gripe is this is more expensive than the standard 1st grade version. It has fewer pages and as a result is overall thinner and lighter. If this is a workbook your kid enjoys on his/her own, then it makes a good book to take with on road trips. If I were to get this again for my second kid, I would probably just get the 1st grade book. There isn't much bridging from the kindergarten to be said. For example, we continue to practice the same handwriting and short phrases like "Cassie carries crisp cookies" are repeated in the 1st grade book as "Connie cooked crisps cookies". There's also more basic math in their standard 1st grade version.

best book for spring break and summer!!
I got this work book for my 4 1/2 year old to work on during Spring break and this summer as he's working on writing and reading. He loved this book so much, it became as part of our daily routine, even after school! I was very impressed how quickly he learned and how much there was to do in such a quality book.I highly recommend this book for any preschooler out there or any kiddo who is ready to start their education while having fun!

Best workbook I have used
I have tried several brands of workbooks for my kids to use during the summer, but this one is by far the best! It's colorful, engaging, and fun for kids to use. My 5 year old daughter, who is going into 1st grade, has been working in this workbook every day. She hasn't gotten bored of it, and it really helps her to not forget what she has learned in school. It's really good practice to prepare for 1st grade too. I like that there are stickers for each chapter you finish so you can celebrate progress, and there is a certificate at the end for completion of the whole workbook. It's great to reward kids along the way so they stay engaged and excited about doing the work. Overall, I would highly recommend this product, and I look forward to purchasing additional Highlights workbooks in the future.

Says summer, but good for year round!
This is a great workbook for supplemental educational resources for your kids. I don't like to make my kids do a lot of frustrating exercises and extra homework when they need to do more practice with language arts, so I buy these workbooks as a way to engage their brains and make it fun. I bought this in September, after summer obviously, but the activities are interesting and can be used year round - see attached pictures. For example, it could be great on a road trip! The book has tons of activities and the pages are heavy and the ink doesn't bleed through the pages. Conversely, this really is a perfect book to help with brain drain over the summer!

Great variety!
This isn't just another trace-your-letters workbook! It has so many options, depending on your kid's mood that day! Science experiments, recipes your kid can make, mazes, hidden pictures... the works! There are even stickers and an achievement certificate to encourage good efforts! It's nearly 150 pages and every page has something different!Unfortunately, my preschooler (4yo) struggles to accept instruction / have someone watch him learn, so it's not as big of a hit as I thought. But there are so many great activities in here, I'll keep trying to get him think it's his idea to work in it, then maybe he'll realize how fun it is!

Great for early learning
I bought this for my daughter who is in preschool but now forced to homeschool until this is all over. I want to get her ready for kindergarten and she needed a workbook that would help. This has so many fun activities with cute pictures and all the stuff she needs to practice. Definitely recommend and makes learning and homework more fun.

A Decent Book to Help Your Child Stop the Summer Slide
It goes from very easy to very difficult from page to page at times. I wasn't aware that Kindergarteners were doing algebra but there is definitely some of that in this book. Also something called a fact family which was a triangle with numbers in it that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me as they were not measurements... Probably something from common core if I was guessing. Page 92 which has no answer key has two sets of two identical trains and we can't for the life of us find a unique set of two.

Avoid Summer Slide without stress
Excellent book to help avoid summer slide filled with fun activities and no stress. We go through about 6 pages a day. My child is a 4 year old reading at a 1st grade level. When he is done with this one, we will move on to the 1st grade workbook. What I especially like about it is that you can go straight through this book as it alternates between math and reading. So we don't have to jump around to get to different subjects like other books do.My child especially likes the special stickers he earns at the end of each chapter, so he feels a sense of accomplishment.

Great Book, Great Value
This was such a good buy. It is a beautiful, fun workbook. The pages are colourful and beautifuly designed. Most importantly, my 5 year old daughter loves working in it. Every few days she'll ask for her workbook, and complete a whole chapter. Her writing, reading, and numeracy have improved in leaps and bounds. I add to the fun by not making her do it, as well as letting her do as much on her own as she can without intervening with corrections. Great book.
