I might depend on the soil. I watered my plants thoroughly before putting the watering swans in the next day. I live in Phoenix, so it's very dry here. They released the water slowly over the course of 3-4 days. If your plants are dry when you put them in, the water will will be absorbed right away.

Q: How long does the water last? Will it work to leave the plants a week while on vacation?
