Quality filter!
This is a quality product and I suspected it was a soon as I picked up the box. I guess I’m kind of old-school when it comes to plumbing products, if it feels heavy enough to be exhibit A in a murder trial, it’s probably OK. The primary housing is a quality piece of cast brass expertly machined to appropriate standards. It comes with fittings, allowing you to convert it from 1 inch to three-quarter inch and as an extra bonus it comes with two shark bite, three-quarter inch adapters. These easy to use push connectors cost $10 apiece if you go to buy them separately. The ball cock on the bottom serves as an easy clean function, and also will release the pressure on the system in case you want to take it apart to give the filter a more detailed cleaning. The filter is a permanent one made of stainless steel or some closely related alloy.Things you should know; first it’s a clear housing in a high impact quality plastic. This allows you to visually inspect the filter to see if it needs a flushing. However, if it’s in direct sunlight, it can turn into kind of a terrarium, and you’ll get algae growth. You can solve that by draping an old towel over it. The other thing you should know is it’s not really a filter it’s a pre-filter. It is a 50 µm built-in system. It will handle dirt, fine sediment, bits of sand even rust, but it’s not going to take out absolutely everything. Depending on your situation and the quality of water, it might be fine by itself or you might want to follow it with a different system down stream with a 1 or 5 µm filter to really do the job. This prefilter will greatly extend the life of your filtration system. Make those expensive replacement filters last longer.

Pretty good with a few minor complaints
No issues. Good product. Been installed for 1 month so far. This filter actually catches more than I thought it would.I own the 50 micron filter which even catches some of the dirt that comes out of my well. The casing for the spin down filter seems solid and well built along with the entire unit being solid. The clear casing part is plastic- and waterdrop customer service had no information on how long it will last, so we will see. I had read somewhere that those plastic housings will eventually need replacement.Easy to install. No issues with reduced water flow into the house.I have the drain tube emptying into my house drain, so I just flip the switch to clean this every time I fill my water softener salt tank (which I have placed right by this spin down filter). If you see my review of the bracket that you can purchase with this- the bracket leaves a lot to be desired- it does its job but doesn't have any way to securely hold the spin down filter it is designed to hold. The spin down literally just sits on the bracket but can still rock back and forth or move up and down. Still, you need the bracket to install this correctly and it does its job.If I could have another 'complaint', after I installed this and re-pressurized my home, some dirt came from my well pressure tank and got caught in this filter. I flushed it out and about 60% of the filter got flushed clean, 40% has dirt on it still, even after multiple flushes. Seems to still work fine even with this filter partial clog so not sure this is a 'complaint' as I like that it caught all of that dirt.I purchased a second 50 micron filter insert so that I can change the first one out and just put the second one in and re-pressurize my water right away. You can't clean a filter off without running water =), at least not easily.2 Month update: Reduced to 4 stars from 5. The product works well BUT I went to change out the 50 micron filter. In order to use the supplied wrench for removing the housing, you have to come up from the bottom. BUT the bottom is where the drain tube attaches. SO, in order to use the wrench I had to disconnect the drain tube- bad design. If they made the wrench with a slot I could have gone past the drain tube. No one thought of that! So dropping 1 star.

Great filter, perfect for our application.
This was easy to install and works great.I have a water treatment that uses activated charcoal. Over time the charcoal granules break down and clog the aerators in the sinks. This required me to clean and or replace the aerators every week or so.This filter was installed after the treatment system, with the larger size screen. Since I installed it a month ago we have not noticed any reduction in water pressure or had to clean the aerators.I like the clear filter canister; I can look in and see the status of the mesh (and do see some particles captured there). The cleaning cycle works well to flush them out, so it won't be necessary to keep buying filter cartridges.I don't know why I waited so long to do this!
