Yerba mate is an important part of South American social culture. It boasts a wide range of health benefits from being an energy boost, to being full of vitamins, to aiding weight loss, and having antioxidant properties. Traditionally it is sipped from a gourd - a hollowed out, dried fruit casing using a bombilla - a metal straw with a closed end to filter out the tea leaves.

Inexpensive and inexpensively made fell apart.
It was rather inexpensive. And yes it fell apart after using it three times. It is pressed together and not welded or soldered, so I wouldn't try to scoop or mold the yerba/erva or anything. That being said, it was only about $12 which on here is not very much money at all. So I should have expected it.

Beautiful... And long enough for the bottle of "tereré" I have. It was very hard to find one that long.It is really made of stainless steel - good quality.And it arrived before the "expected date" given to me at the check out.

Broke on the first use
I was excited to finally be able to drink chimarrão from a large new cuia that a friend brought me from Brazil, but this product broke the moment I inserted it into the wet erva (yerba mate) in the traditional way. I have years of experience preparing mate, so I knew what I was doing – the product is just incredibly poorly made. I am very disappointed. Don't waste your money on this inferior product!
