yes it is lightweight, the wood could be balsa wood for all i know. Who knocks their lamps around so much they require rugged durability? Even if the wood was teak, it's paper, surely that'd be damaged if your so rough on your lamps. Once it's put together it doesn't wobble or anything so i'd say it's fairly solid. It is not a reading lamp, I'm sure if you find a high enough wattage night light bulb you could pull it off, however, this serves as a nightlight in my daughters room, and it lights the room up enough so you don't trip on the stuffed animal that was tossed onto floor but dim enough that it won't keep you awake. It's a night light. I docked it 1 star because it doesn't have assembly instructions, although this was extremely easy to put together, a small piece of paper with the 4 steps would be good for people who have difficulties.

This lamp is very cute but I can tell you, it's a royal pain in the ass to assemble! The wood is very light and and the pieces do not fit together snug enough so when assembling, it kept falling apart. The holes drilled for the screws are not drilled well and I had to use my power drill/driver to set the screws as a regular screwdriver wasn't working. I could hear the wood trying to crack as I assembled it (even with slow/low torque). The light fixture is mounted to the bottom support bar, ok, not a problem; except the screws fell out and I had to remount the light assembly! It took half an hour to put together and I'm a relatively handy person that knows how to use tools. I'm still pulling splinters out of my fingers from the wood too. It is a lovely product, just be prepared for the hassle of assembly. Due to the fragile nature of the lamp, do not use around kids or large pets where it can get knocked off a table or shelf.This is a very fragile item and it weighs only ounces once fully assembled.

The four panels come neatly stacked wrapped in bubble wrap with no damage. They're very light, and the paper is pretty sturdy but I wouldn't treat it too roughly. There's one card for instructions, all pictures.While easy to follow, the only thing preventing me from giving this product a five star rating is that the smaller side panels don't slide in as easily to their grooves as they should, which made assembly more tedious than it should have been. It took a lot of positioning, repositioning, and positioning again before I was able to get the lamp fully assembled.Regardless of any trouble assembling, the finished lamp is absolutely gorgeous, and I can't wait to use this for a soft night light.

So, this is exactly what you’d think for the price. It comes in six pieces, four sides with two stabilizing pieces for the center. The stabilizing pieces do not have predrilled holes which meant that they didn’t sit properly in alignment with the screws without significant effort. I’d suggest you have someone hold it together while you screw in the pieces. Due to not having a predrilled hole the stabilizing pieces did split, not too bad but it definitely happened. The lamp functions and as far as I can tell won’t fall apart necessarily but I would suggest both assistance when assembling and pre-drilling your own holes

This lamp is not impressive. The wood is very fragile and the holes that are drilled in it for you to be able to screw it together are not lined up very well, you get the feeling that it may break as you are assembling the lamp. The paper shades feel very cheap and give the appearance that they came off of a computer printer. When you assemble the lamp, there is a crossbeam at the top that prevents you from reaching in to change the bulb, you have to disassemble the lamp to change the bulb.This lamp was a gift for a special young lady who loves owls for her birthday, and I would rather have gotten a different gift.

My daughter picked this out for her teacher as a gift to give her because she absolutely loves owls. I was surprised, because I thought this would be a heavier lamp, but it isn't. It's very light. It comes unassembled, and must be put together. The shades are of thick paper. I imagine that once everything is assembled and lit up, it is beautiful. It looked to stand about a foot tall, and could be conveniently placed on almost any table or desk. My daughter's teacher looked genuinely pleased as well as surprised ( as most of the kids gave her candy or coffee ) and gave my daughter a huge hug.

The lamp, once put together, is very cute and looks really nice (the light is pretty good too). However, it wasn't the easiest thing to put together. The grooves were a little too big and keeping it together while screwing it together was way harder than it should have been. That's the only reason I'm giving it four stars. Otherwise I can't wait to use it now that I have it put together!
