So a week or so ago I was here reading reviews to determine if this would help keep the birds away from our patio furniture. Not that we mind birds but they were landing on our chairs and covering them with poop daily. We'd clean it up and they would back the next day making another mess. So I figured for such a low price, why not give this a try. Much to our delight, we wake up to clean patio chairs daily and not a bird in sight! Not sure how far of a range this deterrent is supposed to cover but honestly I just wanted my table and chairs free from bird waste. We placed it right in the center of our outdoor dining table and it's has worked like a charm. It makes a nice centerpiece too!I think the key is that it has a spring loaded head that turns 360 degrees on it's own thanks to a clear plastic fin on the back of it's head that catches the breeze. The motion definitely adds to the realism. It is very light and hollow with a stopper on the bottom so you can fill it with rocks, sand, etc. We used rocks to weight it down.Hopefully this review helps others who are in the same situation I was not too long ago looking for a similar solution. Of course everyone's environment is different so I can't speak for your yard situation but we are in north Texas with a back yard that faces west and our patio has a free standing wooden patio cover if that helps. The price was just under $20 when we purchased so I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

This does well for doing the job of deterring birds on my patio. I've noticed that if i leave it on one place too long the birds do get brave so moving it helps. The "rotating head" is a bit too stiff and doesn't move as easily with the wind as i'd like to mimic natural movement. Empty body allows me to put rocks to keep it very heavy and withstands strong winds..

Last year we added a deck addition to our new home with patio furniture and a grill. What we didn't anticipate amongst our excitement for the new addition were that a new deck would attract a hang out place for the birds. With the birds came massive bird poop on the deck and the rails. I had a hard time going outside to even enjoy my deck as every time I did, I had to wash, spray, and scrub the bird poop off. After getting 1 of these owls, we managed to detract the birds from one half of the deck. However, they ended up going over to the other half where there was no guard owl. Having bought a second owl for the other half, the deck has remained bird poop free for weeks now! I am more than excited to be able to finally utilize my deck more often without worrying about having to scrub off bird poop constantly. This product has been a game changer and I would definitely recommend to my neighbors and friends!!

Overall this is a decent product - I punched holes in the sides to use two zip ties to attach to our porch railing. It looks good but while the head swivels when you spin it, it is not loose enough to swivel on its own in the wind, so doesn’t create the realistic scary feature for the small birds that I was hoping. If they would make the swivel very loose it would be a much better product.

I'm posting this review because I think it's funny... I have a couple of pigeons that love coming to my balcony for the past couple of weeks and figured this would be the way to chase them off from my dog food bowl. Keep in mind I just met these pigeons and, well, they like to poop everywhere as pigeons are wont to do.I figured a nice owl to welcome them would encourage them to visit elsewhere, so I bought this lovely looking multicolored owl with bobbling head. I unpackaged the owl with excitement and quickly set him into place. Not an hour later, the bird was back. But instead of being scared, he was excited. Now he has a new friend to share the bowl with!As you can see, the owl definitely isn't scaring the bird away and is in fact beckoning him towards the bowl as his head bobbles in the wind.I give two stars because I feel it's decently made for $20. It's hollow molded plastic and feels a bit lighter in heft than a water gun. You can probably add sand inside the owl to help secure it from blowing over. Definitely don't try water as it leaks right out.

Helped keep the birds off the top of our RV.
