These wired ice grips have been fantastic on my Altberg walking boots in the snow and solid ice. I have walked ten miles a day on roads and pavements, on the flat, up hill and down hill with no slip issues. However after four days on these terrains, approx 40 miles, the rubbers have worn and wires have dislodged, which is what you’d expect walking on the local streets and roads. For the £8 I paid and to allow me to cover the mileage I have in one piece without slipping I think is excellent value. Spikes are more expensive and greater valve, but are not suited to street and road ice walking, where the levels of snow and ice vary.

These were great at start, good grip on the snow/ice, then fell apart at the front!

I only ever tried ice skating once and I ended up on my back then! So, I'm so fearful when walking out in icy conditions, I must resemble a drunken Penguin! However, this is the second pair of these grips that I have bought, that I find are brilliant. Once in place, they do not come off your shoes and what's more important, you can walk along on icy footpaths in confidence! Just the thing to help your Cryophobia!

I purchased this for my trip to Northern Norway, where there is always heavy snow. I'm glad I purchased it, as it was very secure. I didn't have to worry about the metal spikes falling off like some designs. It was very easy to pull on and off. Overall, it's a great value, and I definitely recommend it to others.

These are excellent, don't get me wrong, but I was doubtful when they arrived due to very narrow parts which I thought would wear through pretty quickly. I tried them anyway, and I have to say they're really good, non - slip, although if you're walking across your tiled kitchen floor or any shop floor on the way to work for that matter, it's best to take them off otherwise you might find yourself struggling to stand upright. Basically any really smooth or polished floor is a no-no with these. Regardless of how excellent they are, I was disappointed to find that the last time I used them, the narrow part had snapped.I think they will just about last for the rest of the icy season here in the UK, but I'll be throwing these away as the same time as the ice goes. If you live elsewhere in a country which has the icy season for more than 1 - 2 months, I'd give up on these and go for something more substantial. I don't remember the last ones I got but they lasted for 3 years.

I bought these to walk round the park in them walking my dog as it can become super slippery. There was no snow on the path when I tired them out, but parts of it were just ice. Normally I would have to walk on the grass to avoid falls over, but with these on I didn’t slip at all. Would highly recommend.

When I initially put these over my boots I felt very secure and felt they worked on ice much better than studs. Unfortunately they only lasted for one walk of 5k before they both split apart.

Very good in the snow and ice, however they do slip a bit when on polished floors for some reason so best to wear for outdoors only.
